Centaur teachers are professional and enthusiastic; they have extensive experience teaching students from all over the world and from all walks of life. They have taught at universities and embassies, for governments and companies, and in private tutorials. Each is fluent in at least one language apart from English, and most have experience teaching abroad. Thomas Kozumplik Thomas Kozumplik is the son of a retired United States Army officer and an English riding instructor. He has travelled extensively and been exposed to people from different cultures, happily mixing with people from all walks of life. He has experience teaching students from all over the world in Britain, the U.S.A. and the Czech Republic. For the last five years Thomas has taught students from beginning to advanced at Georgetown, George Mason and Marymount Universites in the Washington D.C. area. He has reviewed books for Houghton and Mifflin and given presentations at WATESOL (Washington Area Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) conferences. Thomas has an MA in Philosophy from the University of St. Andrews and received his teacher training from St. Giles College Brighton. His interests in the field include creative writing and the use of art and video to stimulate memorable language practice. Thomas speaks Czech and is a member of the local Sokol. His hobbies include writing short stories, playing the harmonica and rugby. He has recently become addicted to chess. Caroline Antonyuk Caroline Antonyuk was born in Halifax, England. Her father, David Handforth, worked for the British Council, and thanks to him she traveled widely from an early age. Like her father before her, Caroline is keenly interested in linguistic and cultural exchange. After studying Psychology at London University Caroline trained at International House in London as a teacher. She has worked in Vienna, Prague, Kyiv and Crimea as well as in London, where she now lives with her husband and young son. Her hobbies include photography, martial arts and playing the piano. Caroline is particularly interested in language acquisition, and she enjoys teaching vocabulary and grammar in natural context. She speaks German and Russian as well as rudimentary Czech and Ukrainian, and has used these skills to translate articles for the Journal of Radiation Medicine. Laurie Miller Laurie Miller has taught English to both native and non-native speakers since 1987. Her degrees in biology, literature, and linguistics give her a broad view of the types of English required in various academic settings. Rhetoric, discourse analysis and technology in education are her primary academic interests. A displaced Californian living on the East Coast of the United States, in her spare time she is always searching for some "real waves" to surf in the summer and some "real mountains" to ski in the winter. Daniela Neri Daniela Neri was born in Rome, Italy and has travelled extensively since a very young age. She currently lives in England, where she also spent her gap year at University College,London, following in particular a course in Linguistics Language and Teaching and a course in Translation Techniques. After successfully graduating in 2000 in Foreign Languages and Literatures, she fullfilled her desire of improving her linguistic skills by working abroad and teaching languages. She speaks Italian , English and Spanish fluently, and has been teaching English and Spanish to people in Italy and Italian to English people. Her hobbies include listening to all kinds of music, watching movies, photography, reading and writing. She has won many literary competitions since a very tender age and her works have been published on the internet and in anthologies. Her motto is "Ad maiora!" (latin for "To greater things!").
